The story presents a collection of journal entries written by a woman who is supposed to have a kind of a nervous depression. Together with her supportive, though misunderstanding husband, John, she rents a beautiful, secluded estate for the summer. Despite the fact that the narrator feels vaguely uncomfortable with the estate, she obeys her husband’s decision for the two of them to stay there. John, being a doctor, is dead sure that the best treatment of his wife’s illness is to rest all day long, he dismisses her wishes to write stories, what she likes immensely. So, while staying in her bed around the clock the woman becomes absolutely obsessed with the yellow wallpaper in the room. She begins fanatically tracing its pattern and soon becomes convinced that there is a woman trapped within the paper.

ОтветитьУдалитьIt stands out a mile that this is a very story that should be read be each and every woman. To my mind, it shows us that there is no need to live smb's life and just stick to the rules prescribed by the society, because it is very important to do what you like. So, by all means, this is a very interesting story. I would rather say a psychological one!
