From the viewpoint of composition, the text is made of almost all the traditional elements.

The text begins with the exposition, where we read about the characters, setting and all the explanatory information we need to comprehend the situation in the story. 

Then goes the development of the events, where we read about the main character’s attemps to decode the pattern of the wallpaper in her room. Also we can see the relationships between the main character and all the people who surround her.

As for the climax, the turning point in the plot is the moment when the narrator strips off all the wallpaper in her room.  The narrator completely identifies herself with the woman imprisoned in the wallpaper. This is the ultimate moment of rebellion for the protagonist as she takes action towards freedom.

The denouement is John’s reaction to the narrator’s so-called rebellion: “"What is the matter?" he cried. "For God's sake, what are you doing! ". He simply faints, being shocked of his wife’s behaviour: “Now why should that man have fainted? But he did, and right across my path by the wall, so that I had to creep over him every time!”
